The Northern California AHEC is housed at the Shasta Consortium of Community Health Centers, a community health center consortium of community clinics and rural hospitals in Shasta County and affiliated with the Northern Sierra Rural Health Network, a consortium of clinics in 9 northern California counties. The Northern California AHEC provides continuing education for rural health professionals through distance education; supports the CSU Chico School of Nursing’s online LVN to BSN program for nurses working in rural and frontier areas. AHEC offers nursing prerequisite courses at rural hospitals for pre-nursing students and supports rural rotations for dental and dental hygiene students.
